Physical Exams by Nationally-Registered Examiners
To comply with the Department of Transportation’s federal regulations, organizations must employ commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers who have passed a physical exam conducted by a qualified examiner.
As of May 21, 2014, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires that all FMCSA physical exams be conducted by a nationally-registered certified medical examiner.
ARCpoint Labs of Irving nationwide are nationally-registered providers of physicals for CMV drivers. We understand all the current requirements for DOT physicals, and we can ensure that your drivers are qualified physically and mentally to do their jobs.
Qualifying as a Nationally-Registered Medical Examiner
In order to be listed as a nationally-registered medical examiner (ME) who can legally provide a DOT-compliant physical exam, MEs must pursue the appropriate training and pass a certification test. Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, chiropractors, doctors of medicine (MDs), and doctors of osteopathy (DOs) can all qualify.
When an ME is nationally-registered, it indicates that the physical exams they conduct adhere to and are consistent with the high standards of health and safety set forth by federal agencies.
As part of our comprehensive DOT services, ARCpoint Labs of Irving can provide a nationally-registered provider to administer any physical exam your organization needs to remain DOT-compliant.
